Oscilloscope

In collaboration with Red Bull Music Academy, we created The House That Yauch Built—a commemorative 360° digital platform celebrating the Beastie Boys' legendary Oscilloscope Studio and honoring Adam Yauch's legacy. This immersive experience serves as both a tribute and a comprehensive archive of the group's cultural impact.
The platform's visual design draws inspiration from Oscilloscope's retro-lab aesthetic, expanded into an explorable 360-degree environment. Given unprecedented access to the studio space, we documented countless artifacts and memorabilia, each telling its own story within the band's history. The carefully shot and color-graded spherical photography creates a unique time capsule feeling, encouraging users to explore every corner of this historic space.
Users navigate through the studio on a multilinear track, discovering interactive hotspots that trigger videos, photos, and audio content. The experience chronicles Oscilloscope's evolution through branded posters, props, and studio equipment, while also capturing significant moments and celebrity encounters. Exclusive content includes Seth Rogen discussing the Beastie Boys' influence, Mike D. reflecting on post-9/11 work, and conversations with Spike Jonze and Samantha Storr about Yauch's directorial work "Fight For Your Right Revisited."

This digital archive transcends mere documentation, weaving together physical artifacts, personal stories, and cultural moments to create a comprehensive tribute to Oscilloscope's impact on music, film, and art. The result is an engaging historical record that captures the studio's creative spirit and preserves its legacy for future generations.
As Creative Director, I was responsible for the overall look and digital experience after Creative Director David Estis shot the entire location just days before its impending decamp. Working closely with our writers, designers, UX team, and developers, this was made possible by the efforts of Dylan Hoop, Alex Otto, Adrián Somoza, Franco Rossi, Brook Downton, and many other Monks.
